Frequently Asked Questions
Can I walk-in or do I need to schedule an appointment for orthotics consultation?
You must schedule an appointment for your initial consultation. You are welcome to bring your current footwear for evaluation with your visit to our office.
Does the US Orthotic Center make their own orthotics?
Yes! All our orthotics are made on premise in our orthotic lab.
How long does it take to make the custom orthotics?
It takes approximately two weeks from the initial appointment to complete the orthotics. We do offer expedited services for an additional fee.
Do you accept medical insurance?
We do not accept medical insurance. However, we do provide an itemized receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. You may also request a letter of medical necessity from your referring doctor to submit with the itemized receipt. Since orthotic coverage is variable, we recommend contacting your insurance company in advance to inquire about your specific benefits.
Is there an additional fee for orthotic adjustments?
The orthotics include six complimentary adjustments within the first six months of receiving them. After the initial six-month time frame, adjustments are subject to a fee.
How long do orthotics last?
On average, sports models orthotics last between 2 to 4 years for recreational athletes and one year for professional athletes. Dress/fashion orthotics models last between 6 to 8 years. Cycling, ski and skating models last 10+ years.
What material does the US Orthotic Center use to make their orthotics? Is the material hard or soft?
All orthotics are made on premise, thus we have the flexibility to work with several materials to find the correct combination for your comfort, balance, and performance. We have over 20 different types of orthotics rubber, ranging from super soft to very firm. We also have plastics, ranging from flexible to rigid.
Can orthotics be refurbished?
Yes, we do refurbish orthotics made by in-house at the U.S Orthotic Center and occasionally orthotics made by other facilities. Please keep in mind that not all orthotics can be refurbished. It is best to have your orthotics evaluated every two years to ensure they are in good condition.
Does the US Orthotic Center guarantee their orthotics?
Yes. If after six adjustments you are not satisfied or your pain is not alleviated, you are qualified for a refund (minus the office visit fee) only within 6 months of ordering your custom orthotics. We are the only practitioner that offer refunds. Our philosophy is that orthotics is a work in progress. We are more than willing to work with you to get your feet in a comfortable position and we ask that you work with us to help you get there.
What’s the difference between the US Orthotic Center and other facilities making orthotics?
The Pedorthist who will look at your feet is the same Pedorthist who will make your orthotics. Most facilities use a third party to make their patients’ insoles. Since our orthotics are made on-site, it enables us to be accessible to outpatients’ needs, completing their orthotics adjustments in the duration of an appointment.
